GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) announces the Himalayan Research Associates Program for 2014
“GBPIHED-Himalayan Research Associates Program” has been instituted to identify promising young researchers with innovative ideas and provide them with training and research opportunities in niche areas of Himalayan Environment and Development and help generate information on physical, biological, managerial and human aspects of Himalayan environment and development
The scheme aims at facilitating their transition from mentored to independent research career
GBPIHED intends to offer three (3) such fellowships this year to promising fresh PhD holders for working in GBPIHED with state-of-art R&D facilities
The GBPIHED’s research addresses applied environmental and developmental issues in different ecological and geographic regions of the entire Indian Himalayan Region (IHR)
The research in all these disciplines essentially requires field aptitude
Eligibility: PhD degree holders within three years of award of PhD degree or those who have submitted PhD theses
Applicants who are about to submit thesis are also eligible to apply but their selection will be subject to the condition that they would have submitted thesis before the expiry of the validity of the award offer. Applicants should have research publications in high impact SCI journals. GBPIHED-Himalayan Research Associateship is open only to Indian nationals
Age limit: 32 years, relaxable up to 5-years in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped and women candidates
Tenure: Two years and extendable for maximum one more year based on outstanding performance and approval of the Director, GBPIHED
Remuneration: GBPIHED-Himalayan Research Associates will be paid a consolidated fellowship of Indian Rs.22,000/- per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible
Mode of Selection: Eligible candidates can apply in the prescribed format available as Annexure II
Selections to the “GBPIHED-Himalayan Research Associateship” will be made based on the presentation of the proposed research project followed by interview of the short listed candidates by specially constituted Committee
Applicants from abroad may also be considered in absentia, if eligible
Accommodation and other benefits: Accommodation, if available and other benefits like leave, medical may be provided as per rules of GBPIHED/ MoEF for RAs
(i) Candidates who have already worked as RA in the GBPIHED projects will not be eligible for becoming a RA under this scheme
(ii) Selected candidates are expected to join within one month of effective date of award
(iii) All other rules and regulations will be as applicable to GBPIHED/MoEF Research Associates
Further, in all matters, the decision of Director, GBPIHED shall be final

Incomplete applications received without the documents will be rejected
