SSC Recruitment 2017 for Scientific Assistant India Meteorological Dept 1102 posts

The SSC Scientific Assistant Recruitment 2017 notification was published on 18th July 2017
 
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct a open competitive examination for recruitment position of Scientific Assistant in India Meteorological Department (IMD), Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post for filling up total 1102 Vacancies tentatively. The SSC Scientific Assistant examination scheduled to be held from 20th November 2017 to 27th November 2017
 
The India Meteorological Dept. was established in the year 1875 by Govt. of India, and was entrusted with responsibility of performing metrological observations communications of weather forecast etc for the entire country
 
Name of Posts: Scientific Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)
 
Total No. of Vacancies: 1102 Posts
 
Pay Scale: Pay Band-2 (Rs.9300-34800) plus Grade Pay Rs.4200/- in pre-revised scale
 

Eligibility Conditions

 
Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be either: (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
 
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India
 
Age Limit
 
Not exceeding 30 years as on 04th August 2017
 
Note: Candidate should note that only the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation / Secondary Exam Certificate will be accepted by the Commission for determining the Age eligibility and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted
 
Permissible relaxation of Upper age limit prescribed under para 4(A) above:
 
SC/ST – 5 years
 
OBC – 3 years
 
PH – 10 years
 
PH + OBC – 13 years
 
PH + SC/ST – 15 years
 
Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved/General) – 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the Closing date for receipt of application
 
Ex-Servicemen (OBC) – 6 years (3 years + 3 years)
 
Educational Qualifications (As on 04th Aug 2017)
 
(1) Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) with Physics as one of the subject)/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications from a recognized Institution/University or equivalent (OR)
 
(2) Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized Institution/University or equivalent
 
(3) Note-1 – The qualifying Degree or diploma should be in First Class (60% marks) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale
 
(4) Note-2 – The qualifying Degree or Diploma must be of 03 years duration after (10+2) exam
 
(5) Note-3 – The applicant must have passed 10+2 Exam from a Recognized Board or equivalent in Science with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects
 
Selection Process
 
A) Open Competitive Computer based Examination
 
Scheme of Exam
 
The Exam would comprise 200 Questions carrying 200 Marks for 02 Hours Duration. The question paper would have two parts, Part-I and Part-II:
 
Part-I: General Intelligence & Reasoning – 25
 
Part-I: Quantitative Aptitude – 25
 
Part-I: English language & Comprehension – 25
 
Part-I: General Awareness – 25
 
Part-II: Physics, Computer Science & Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering – 100

Fee Payable Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only)

Application Procedure

 
Candidate may note that only online applications will be accepted at www.ssconline.nic.in
 
All women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Physically Handicapped categories are exempted from paying application fee, as per extant government orders
 
Fees can be paid through SBI challan/SBI Net banking or through credit/debit cards of any bank. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance
