PGI Chandigarh likely to recruit over 100 doctors

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, which has currently less strength than the sanctioned number of faculty staff, will now recruit more than 100 faculty members to cater to the increasing rush of patients at the institute.

As per the sources, the advertisement is likely to be issued this week As per the official figures provided by PGI, a total number of 554 faculty posts have been sanctioned at the institute while as at present, the institute has a strength of 303 only.

The recruitment is being done for the benefit of the patients. The institute is witnessing a daily increase of patients. In the fresh recruitment, professors and assistant professors would be recruited at the institute.

A senior doctor of the institute said that more recruitment would help in better patient care. The long queues at the OPDs are there, because the patient number is high and doctors are less. The new recruitment will be a welcome step by the administration.
