UPSC announces Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam 2015

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam 2015 for the recruitment for 42 SCRA posts, to be held on January 18, 2015. UPSC will be selecting candidates on the basis of the Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination for Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.  

In order to be eligible for the examination the candidate must be 17 years of age and must not have attained the age of 21 years on 01st January 2015, (he/she must have been born not earlier than 02nd January 1994 and not later than 01st January 1998). Eligible candidates can apply online from October 11, 2014 to November 07, 2014 by 11:59 PM.

The recruitment process for the UPSC SCRA will be held in two stages; written examination and personal interview (PI). Those who clear the written exam will be asked to appear in the PI. Those who qualify in the second and final round, i.e. the PI, will be recruited as SCRA by the Indian Railway

Scheme of Examination for Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination (SCRA Exam)

The examination comprises written test in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, General Knowledge, and Psychological Test (Mental Ability). The question paper will be set in English Language only. The selected candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical examination. The standard of syllabus is that of Class XII (CBSE equivalent).

The papers in all the subjects will consist of Objective (multiple choice answers) Type questions only. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only. There will be negative marking for wrong answers marked by a candidate. In the question papers, wherever required, SI units will be used.
