Exam Scheme for SBI PO 2014 exam
The SBI PO examination consists of two phases. The first phase consists of an objective and descriptive test and the second phase of group discussion and a personal interview. First Phase: The first phase of the examination consists of a descriptive and an objective test. The objective test is of 200 marks and has the time duration of two hours and is a computer based test. Whereas the descriptive test is an hour long and carries a weightage of 50 marks. The objective test consists of questions from the English language; general awareness, computer knowledge, marketing awareness; Data Analysis and interpretation; and Reasoning. The descriptive test assesses your written communication skills in English. Your test will consist of an essay, a precise, a formal letter etc. on a given topic. Second Phase: The only candidates who are able to clear the first phase are eligible to move on the next phase. The second phase of the selection will take you through a group discussion and a personal interview.

Listed below are some tips to crack the examination for the post of Probationary Officer by SBI:
- The first and foremost tip for clearing the examination is that you should avoid answering questions in the paper you are not certain about because the paper carries negative marking and so it is big no-no to get answers wrong.
- Make sure you are updated on your current affairs apart from the static general knowledge. Not only will it help you in the General Awareness section of the examination but will also give you an edge in your PI and GD.
- Pick up new words from the thesaurus and try and learn as many synonyms and antonyms as you possibly can. It so one of the most scoring sections of the written exam examination.
- It is advised not to waste too much time if you get stuck somewhere. Also the reasoning part is said to be time consuming and confusing. Try and solve as soon as you can or move on. You can always come back if you have time left in the end.
- There are also some topics such as percentage, simple interest, compound interest, area, work, distance, time which are easy to score, so make sure you prepare these topics well.
