Applications have been invited by Registrar, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research Chandigarh (PGIMER), Chandigarh for admission to House Job OHS Course of January 2015 Session
Admission to House Job (OHS) is made twice a year. The session commences on first July each year for MDS Course
The Institute follows a residency service-cum-training scheme. Candidates admitted to MDS courses and House Job in Oral Health Sciences are called Junior Residents
The admission to the above courses of the Institute is made on merit on all India basis, by holding an entrance examination by the Institute, after issuing a countrywide admission notice
The admission notice is published in leading English newspapers of India March for the July session
House Job (OHS) Seats
- i) First Year Junior Resident (House Job) for Oral Health Sciences (OBC– 01 & ST – 01)
Qualification Requirements
To eligible for admission to House Job (OHS) course at the Institute, a candidate:
- a) Candidates must hold degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) of Punjab University or any other University recognized by Dental Council of India
- b) Candidates must have either completed, or due to compete, compulsory rotatory internship training on or before 30th June/31st December for July & January session respectively
- c) Candidates must be registered with Central/State Dental Registration Council
Note
- i) The candidates selected for House Job Oral Health Sciences) are appointed for a period of six months. On recommendation of the Head of the dept., this period can be extended upto one year.
- ii) House Job will be offered once in the department for a maximum period of one year
iii) The candidates who have already done House Job in any Hospital or Institute are not eligible for House Job at PGIMER
Reservation of Seats
SC/ST Candidates: Some seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes and other categories, as per instructions from Govt of India, provided these candidates fulfill the minimum admission requirements prescribed by the Institute for the purpose
Candidates belonging to scheduled cats and tribes are required to furnish a certificate (as per format given in Annexure-2) from District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/First Class Stipendiary Assistant Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate, Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, Sub Divisional Officer of area where the candidates and or his family normally resides/Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Islands) in support of their claims
Other Backward Classes (OBC)
Reservation for candidates from other backward classes (OBC) is granted as per notification of Govt of India; the OBC certificate submitted by the candidates (as per format given in Annexure-3) should have been issued by the competent authority within one year of the last date of submission of application; OBC certificate issued by the District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner etc only will be recognized for this purpose
Selection Procedure
Candidates will be considered for selection based on a theory paper consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs) with four alternatives each and a single correct or most appropriate response
The duration of this competitive entrance examination, to be conducted at various centres at Chandigarh, is 90 minutes
There will be no clinical/practical examination
The maximum marks for this theory paper are 100, with each correct response being awarded with one mark; each incorrect response will be penalized with negative score of 0.25 marks; a common merit list for MDS course and House Job will be prepared based on marks obtained the candidates appearing in the theory exam
Candidates of various categories will qualify for admission if they secure minimum marks in theory examination, as mentioned against each category
- i) Open (General) and Sponsored/Deputed – 50 marks
- ii) OBC and SC/ST – 45 marks
If two or more candidates obtain equal scores, then inter-se merit for selection shall be determined on the following basis:
- a) A candidates who has obtained higher aggregate marks in BDS exam shall rank higher to a candidate who has obtained lower marks
- b) If the aggregate marks obtained in BDS exam are the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank higher to candidate who is junior in age
Instructions for Entrance Exam
The examination will start sharp at 10.00 am; the entry of the candidates into exam hall shall start at 08.30 am after frisking of the candidates; the entry of the candidate into examination hall will be closed at 09.30 am
All the candidates are required to bring their Admit Card while appearing for the exam; no candidates will be allowed to take the examination without producing the Admit Card; no paper (including the envelope of the Admit Card), or any other material such as pens, etc., is allowed into the examination hall
Ball pens will be provided by the Institute at the Examination Centre
All the candidates appearing for the entrance test are instructed “not to bring” water bottle, car key (Remote), chain, any mobile phones/paper /pen/wrist watch/ring/wallets/ladies purse/ornaments (earring, rings etc.) or any other electronic device, even envelope of admit card to the examination hall
All candidates will be physically frisked by security personnel before being allowed into the examination hall
Any candidates found breaching rules mentioned in the prospectus, or guilty of using unfair, will be liable to the punished by the competent authority
Fees and Dues
The following dues are payable to the Institute, by the candidates admitted to the House Job (OHS) courses:
- a) Amalgamated Fund: Rs.360 per six month
- b) Security: Rs.1000/- (refundable only after completion of course)
- c) Hostel Security: Rs.5000/- (refundable) to the deposited with the Administrative Officer (Hostel) if hostel accommodation is allotted
The first installment of fees for six months is required to be paid immediately after selection
Duration of Course and Emoluments
The House Job is for a period upto 30th June 2014 for the January session; during this period, the Junior Residents are entitled to emoluments as prescribed by the Govt of India
At present, this translates to a pay scale of Rs.15600 – 39100 and a grade pay of Rs.5400
Non-practicing allowance is also paid as per rules
Procedure for Applying:
- a) The candidate should fill his / her application form available on the PGI websitee. https://pgimer.edu.in
- b) The application, complete in all respects accompanied with all the relevant documents should reach the office of Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh on or before the closing date
Procedure for Online Application Form:
1) After opening the PGIMER website i.e. www.pgimer.edu.in, the candidate will open the Application Form available on the website and fill up various columns
2) After filling up all the columns, the candidate will generate Challan Form and deposit the requisite fee in any Branch of State Bank of India anywhere in India; after that the candidate fill the Challan Form No./I-collect No. in the Application Form
3) The candidate will download / print the filled Application for and paste a photograph on the available space and place his/her signature on the Application Form
4) The candidate will attach all the relevant certificates / Annexures and Challan Form with the Application and sent the same to the Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh
General Information
The candidates will fill his online application form available on the PGIMER website and will also take out a print of Challan Form (in triplicate) & application form and deposit the application fee in any State Bank of India branches all over the country
Those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through i-collect service of SBI
In that case the INB reference No. will be generated and the same will be mentioned instead of Challan No. as reflected in the application form
The Challan form is needed to be filled up in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319 and those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through i-collect service of SBI
They must retain a copy of Challan with to them and another copy of Challan deposited with the bank is to be attached with the application form sent to the Registrar PGI, Chandigarh on or before 20th October 2014 up to 02.00 pm
Fee: i) For General / OBC / OPH: Rs.1000/-; ii) For SC/ST: Rs.800/-
Important Dates
Dates for downloading of Prospectus / Application Form from: 13th September 2014 to 20th October 2014
Date for generating the Challan Form from: 13th September 2014 to 16th October 2014 (23:59 hours) and the State Bank of India will accept the fee upto 20th October 2014
The last date of receipt of applications is 20th October 2014 (upto 05.00 PM)
