Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Saturday that the roads sector will create more than 50 lakh jobs in the next three years in the country. The ministry is hopeful that it would complete the work of awarding road contracts worth Rs five lakh crore in the next 3 years.

The creation of 50 lakh jobs in roads sector would give a boost to the steel and cement industry as well.
Presently, the India’s road length is 96,000 km, and it would be increased to 1.5 lakh km in the next four years. He is also hopeful that the Finance Minister will increase the allocation of funds to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the upcoming budget this month. Also, he is convincing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that this scheme needs more allocation of funds.
Reiterating on the current proposal, Gadkari said he is hopeful that that his ministry will be able to clear the pending projects worth Rs 25,000-35,000 crore within the next two weeks.
